Temperament :

Bernese are generally good natured, tolerant and gentle. Typically they are excellent with children. They thrive on human companionship and activity and may develop behavioral problems if they are deprived of social interaction. They are not protective and aggressive unless provoked.

Grooming :

The Bernese Mountain Dog has a coat that is shiny and smooth, long and wavy. Grooming should include brushing on a daily to weekly basis. This breed can shed heavily according to the seasons, and extra grooming is usually required then. Give the Berner a bath or dry shampoo when needed.

Exercise :

The Bernese Mountain Dog needs an inordinate amount of exercise, interaction, and activity. They require a minimum half hour of vigorous exercise daily as well as several outside trips.
