Temperament :
Modern Salukis retain the qualities of hunting hounds. They may appear reserved and uninterested. They do not bark much but "sing" when they feel that something is wrong or when a member of the family is away for a long period of time. They get along well with children, but must be respected when they want to be left alone and rest.
Grooming :
Salukis silky and odor-free coat is easy to look after. Daily use of a brush and a comb is all that is needed. Ears should be checked on regular bases and cleaned if necessary.
Exercise :
Saluki is a hunting hound that needs a lot of exercise. They are happiest when running off leash but this should be done with caution as their strong prey drive can lead them to chase deer and other animals, and they can be difficult to stop.
