Temperament :
The Shar-Pei is dignified, calm, and confident, aloof with strangers, and a bit arrogant. He can be difficult to train unless well-socialized and obedience trained from an early age. Once he learns that he is not a top dog in the family he will accept his place and become a dependable, devoted companion and child's playmate. Although he is considered a consummate watchdog, the Shar-Pei should never be aggressive to people or other dogs.
Grooming :
The Chinese Shar Pei has a short and harsh coat that should be regularly brushed. Their coat tends to shed only during molting periods.
Exercise :
The Shar Pei is moderately active dog that needs regular daily exercise.
