Temperament :

No dataBold, inquisitive and fearless the Staffie is renowned for its reliability as a family dog. They are extremely loving dogs, being loyal and devoted to people, with special emphasis on their reliability with children. For these reasons, they are sometimes referred to as "nanny dogs". As a result of their dog fighting heritage, one of the problems noticed in this breed is a tendency of aggression towards other dogs. It must be understood that even a Staffordshire Bull Terrier with "good" temperament may fight when challenged by another dog and should therefore be adequately controlled in public places. Although they are fighters, they are good pets and generally won't harm anyone. They can be very destructive if they are left alone at home for long periods of time.

Grooming :

The short, dense coat of this breed is easy to maintain. Weekly brushing or wipe down with a dry towel or damp wash cloth is all that is necessary.

Exercise :

Due to their athletic nature, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier needs vigorous daily exercise. A game of fetch or tug of war is what they like the most. A Staffordshire Bull Terrier is not a dog that should be allowed to roam off leash, as he can sometimes be quarrelsome with other canines and small animals - this varies between individual dogs, but it is something that should always be kept in mind, particularly with adult (over two years of age) dogs.
